The application of statistical analysis for the description of onym units in the writer’s language is an important stage of work on the dictionary of poetonyms. The author suggests that the approaches to quantitative systematization of the proper vocabulary should differ from the approaches to the description of the appellative units. The article represents the ways of presenting the statistical information in the dictionary of poetonyms.

Ruthlessness is one of the key concepts of the novel of an Austrian writer Robert Musil “The Confusions of Young Torless”. The basic way of verbalization of this concept is expression. The means of symbols in the work of the Austrian writer are the following words: tierisch, roh, grausam, wild, Grausamkeit, brutal, viehisch, Rohheit, Gewalt, gewaltig, gewaltsam . The concept in its verbal form in the novel by R. Musil is often combined in a number of contexts with its expression.

The article deals with the role of felt in the material culture in the Avar-Andi-Tsez nations of Dagestan. It covers the issues of typology and classification of traditional felt clothing - cloaks and felt boots based on production technology and the cut. The author describes the technology of making felt jackets, coats and tank tops, etc. The features of felt boots of Avar-Andi-Tsez nations of Dagestan in trimming and needlework, as well as the kinds of ornaments are under consideration.

On the territory of modern north-western Azerbaijan there have been Dzharo-Belokan societies for more than a century and a half (the last third of the XVII - first third of the XIX centuries), which played a significant role in the military and political history of the Caucasus. In Caucasus study there is a view that the origins of Dzharo-Belokan societies became possible after the migration of highlanders (mostly Avars) from Dagestan to the lower areas of the South Caucasus. Based on the analysis and synthesis of the available sources, the issues regarding the origins of these societies are under consideration in the article.

Originally created for monastic feats of Cossacks, it could not reach the true monastic spirit for a long time due to a number of subjective factors that are analyzed in the article.

The article deals with the slavery and slave trade in the XVIII - mid-XIX century at the Nogais, as well as the beginning of elimination of it by the Russian government due to the Nogais entry into Russia. The criteria for the choice of the “yasyrs” when buying and selling, as well as the conditions under which a slave could gain freedom are described in the article.
