The article reveals the essence of the concept of tolerance as a culturally significant term and subject of research in modern humanitarian studies, including linguistics. The author points out the main aspects of the study of tolerance in linguistics, including the definition of this term, the delimitation of related concepts, the categorical nature of this concept, the opposition “tolerance - intolerance”, as well as the phenomenon oflanguage tolerance and its verbal representation.
