The article reveals the concepts ofupbringing and professional education of teacher students, as well as the tasks that have to be achieved. The author substantiates the importance ofthe development of mentoring in the professional upbringing of teacher students, proposing the main directions of such activities for further study. The experience of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in the implementation ofextracurricular projects related to the development of mentoring is described. The conclusion is made about the future prospects of the development of mentoring in professional education.
