The article is concerned with figurative comparisons and their role in an artistic text. The author analyzes the structure of the concepts of “figurative comparison” and “non-figurative comparison” and delimits these concepts. An attempt is made to classify figurative comparisons according to the functional semantic categories of analogy, identity, equality, and correspondence.
