The article deals with the concept of “discourse” and its structure. The author makes a detailed study of the classification of discourse disclosing the relationship and interrelation of the terms “discourse”, “text”, “speech”, and “dialogue”. It is concluded that “discourse” is a complex linguistic phenomenon that includes such components as text, speech, and dialogue, as well as extra-linguistic factors.
