The article deals with genre features of the Homeric centos, the earliest version of which dates back to the 5th century. The author qualifies centos as a separate genre which includes a mixture of other genres (the genres of an epic poem, paraphrase, gospel symphony, prophecy, bucolic, and short stories). The author pints out that such a mixture of genres is characteristic of late-antique and Byzantine literature.
