The article deals with the peculiarities of the objectification of the mental formation “American dream” based on the material of the songs nominated for the Best Song of the Year Grammy Award. The author shows that in the texts of the songs under study objectification manifests itself in several ways: as a hedonistic perception of life with prevalence of the material over the spiritual on the one hand and as disappointment in material values on the other. The author considers words related to the vulgar language as a manifestation of unlimited freedom of speech and expression.
