The article is devoted to the analysis of blackmail from the position of the addressee. The author identifies the most typical strategies of the adressee’s communicative behavior such as adaptation, rivalry and avoidance. The communicative behavior of the victim is described through the categories of subordination, communicative mitigation as well as the phenomena of communicative activity, bluff and communicative sabotage.
