The article deals with the phenomena of universalization and differentiation in the modern Russian and French languages. Attention is drawn to the stylistic illegibility of modern media, which widely use reduced vocabulary. It highlights the fact of additional speech coding in connection with the active differentiation of the modern French language. It is concluded that in the Russian usus there is more genre and stylistic integration, while the French modern discourse is characterized by variability and differentiation.
