The article deals with the features of the author’s linguistic personality in the fiction discourse. An attempt is made to highlight the author’s linguistic paradigm in the discourse of an American writer John Updike. Based on the methods of linguostatistics, it presents the analysis of the lexical structure of the text allowing to reveal some features of the linguistic competence of the author.
