The article presents an overview of areas of study of language functioning in the Internet space. Special attention is paid to the approach, the main concept of which is the genre. The necessity to differentiate the technical parameters and language characteristics is emphasized. As a result, the structure of the Internet platform is proposed, which allows to focus on the verbal forms of communication.
