The article deals with the cultural and ecological approach, which promotes environmental geographical education at the methodological level in the context of the ideas of the ecological culture. It presents the theoretical and methodological aspects of this approach and the educational practice of its implementation in the local lore geoecological club. It describes the essence of the cultural ecological approach and the features of changes in the target, content and technological components of geographical education in its context.

The article deals with the issue of formation of the environmental responsibility in students in the course “Geography of Russia”, due to the orientation of modern education on the personal development of students, as well as the trend of integration into its content the issues of sustainable development. It presents the sequence and technology of ecological responsibility development, the guidelines for implementation of the technology at the lesson organized following the FSES.
