The article describes the experience of the formation of intercultural competence in the process of learning Russian as a foreign language at the Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University. The authors determine the place of intercultural communication in the system of communicative competence formation. The types and forms of work of teachers of Russian as a foreign language are considered.

The article deals with the organization of non-standard forms of work at the lessons on “Practice Grammar of the Russian Language” for foreign students. The article presents the methodological developments that have been tested in classroom with foreign students with different levels of the Russian language mastering. The materials that have been used in the educational process or can be recommended in the process of teaching Russian as a foreign language are under consideration in the article.
