The article deals with toponymy as a form of preservation of the historical memory for the younger generation, as a means of the patriotic education. The toponymic system of Volgograd and its streets named after Stalingrad snipers are under consideration. Based on award documents, the article describes the role of snipers in the Battle of Stalingrad.
