The article deals with the criteria of selection of examination texts for the state exam in the Russian language. Based on the analysis of 20 texts, the authors identify five criteria, which include the legal framework of the Ministry of education of the Russian Federation, the psychological and pedagogical features of graduates, genres of a text, the type of the auxiliary text, the relevance of the theme of the text.
