The article deals with the results of nine-month observations of the language of television media. The research identified the problem areas related to the jargonization and criminalization of language, use of coarse words and phrases, spreading the language of aggression in TV speech. It is concluded that the danger of using non-literary vocabulary, verbal violence in mass media not only negatively influences an individual, but also negatively affects the worldview of the whole society, which begins to consider cruelty as a norm.

The article deals with the dialect names of old clothes. The paradigmatic connections within the group are presented. Special attention is paid to the description of the way the old clothes, losing any practical function, get some additional symbolic functions and move into the sphere of spiritual culture.
