The article deals with the features of development of the international inbound and outbound tourism in Russia and Azerbaijan in the aspect of touristic cooperation between the two countries, shows the dynamics in the number of arrivals of foreign tourists in Russia and Azerbaijan in the XXI century.It presents the factors contributing to and hindering the development of tourism in Azerbaijan and the growth of tourist trips of Russian citizens in AR. The prospects of various types of tourism for Russian tourists in Azerbaijan are under consideration.
