The article deals with the discursive category “politeness - impoliteness” in relation to the American political discourse. In the modern political discourse we find an ambivalent attitude to the ethical and moral values that have long served as a model of the verbal behaviour not only of politicians, but also of journalists, commentators etc. In this regard, the traditional notions of politeness and political correctness can no longer be considered a benchmark.
