The article deals with the need for metadisciplinary approach to the study of the history of the Russian literary language. Due to the correlation of the linguistic and socio-cultural aspects of the formation and development of the Russian literary language,the metadisciplinarypotential of the discipline allows successful forming of thegeneral cultural competences of the students and contributes to the vocational orientation of future philologists in the modern heterogeneous communicative environment.
