The article deals with the figurative characteristics of the character type “robot” the in American and Russian linguistic consciousness. The author identifies the direct and indirect (through cognitive metaphors) assimilation of a robot into a man in such aspects as appearance, cognitive mental processes, thinking, emotions, motor skills, activity characteristics, ability for socialization. The distinctive characteristics of robots in the American and Russian linguistic consciousness are a large number of sensors, cameras, buttons, high cost, actions on orders, specific parametric characteristics, etc.
