The article deals with the linguistic devices used to achieve the comic effect in Russian folk fairy tales, together with the research of the comic in modern linguistics and the related sciences, characteristics of fairy tale discourse. The text of a fairy tale organizes the language material of some certain content and expresses a comic attitude towards the information by various linguistic devices.
