The article deals with the thematic relations as temporal and causal relations. The verbal form is the basic means to express temporality both in fiction texts and in proverbs, but due to generality, timelessness and other characteristics of Russian proverbs the expression of the specific temporary sign of an abstract object can not necessarily be expressed materially. In this case temporal relations are perceived as an integral part of causal relations.
