The article is devoted to the study of media urbanism, or urban communication, as a new and promising direction in modern linguistic studies. The author makes a study of the epigraphy of Volgograd - a collection of small form texts, demonstrating vividly the linguistic image of the city. The “Chinese footprint” in the epigraphy of Volgograd is traced on the basis of data obtained by interviewing informants from Russia and China

The article deals with mediation in the texts of the reviews of travels based on the Russian and English languages. The linguistic devices of mediation at micro- and macrolevels are analyzed in the article.
