The article deals with the policy of the Soviet Union towards the French colonies - Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia - in theirfight for independence in the 1950s.Being unable to establish direct contacts with the Maghreb countries, the Soviet Union used the UN platform to support the national liberation movement of North Africa. The article is based on the analysis of the UN documents, declarations of statesmen of the USSR.
