The article deals with the allusive anthroponyms in the novels by modern Northern Irish writers. The author emphasizes the importance of the vertical context for understanding of the subjects of the novels - the Northern Ireland conflict (the Troubles). The analysis proves that the anthroponymscorelate the artistic space of the novels and the historical facts and mythology of Ireland,as well as reveal the main theme of the works -the senselessness of a fratricidal confrontation.
