Based on the new archival sources, the article deals with the establishment of the pension system, which is an important component of the social policy in the Republic in the first decade of the Soviet power. Various forms of social support are characterized in this aspect: pensions, allowances, rations to families of the red army soldiers, etc. Both success and difficulties are under consideration.
