The article deals with the linguodidactic bases of the process of students’ sociolinguistic competence formation based on multimedia educational and methodological exercises. It presents the approaches and principles as well as exercises that are part of the multimedia educational and methodological set as the main means of formation of sociolinguistic competence.

The article deals with the set of methodological tools for formation of the sociolinguistic competence as one of the key ones in the structure of foreign language communicative competence. The notion of “set of exercises” is under consideration; the contents of methodological tools is described. The author finds out the basic exercises for formation of the sociolinguistic competence.

The conceptual component of the methodological concept of “sociolinguistic competence” is under consideration. The structural components of SLC, as well as learning content are described. The methodological principles of formation of SLC are outlined in the article.
