The article deals with the figurative component of the concept “memory” in Steve Watson’s work “Before I Go to Sleep”. The metaphorical objectification of the concept “memory” is considered together with the anticoncept “amnesia” in their unity and opposition. As the result, the following metaphors can be found out: the metaphors of a container, a particular material object, liquid, support point (fixing), construction, computer and light.

The article deals with the value component of the concept “memory” in the work by Steve Watson “Before I Go to Sleep”. The research is based on evaluative statements of the main character who partially lost her memory, actualizing negative feelings of a person unable to keep the information in mind. As the result the evaluation meanings that form the value component of the concept can be revealed.
