The article deals with the concept of globalization as viewed by domestic and foreign scientists. Two directions of globalization on the market of educational resources are considered (marketization of education and implementation of the programme of overcoming basic illiteracy as the means of struggle with chronic poverty and economic inequality);its two basic models are found out. It is stated that globalization in the sphere of higher education should be regarded as the internationalization, integration, informatization as its most important components. The conclusion is that globalization has positive sides - universalization and knowledge in natural science.
