The article presents the first linguosemiotic analysis of a traditional English-language fiction text presented in the form of an electronic hypertext. The author claims the use of the modern electronic form of the fiction text changes the relationship between the addresser and the addressee, as well as the order of reading the fiction text and the perception of such text by the addressee.

The article deals with the structural, lexical, grammar and syntactic characteristics of the English electronic lexicographic hypertext Wikipedia. It reveals the average volume of information units, the quantity of inner and outer hypertext references. The theoretical foundations of the research are proved by the examples from Wikipedia texts.
