The article deals with connotation in the aspect of discourse study. Special attention is paid to the connotative meaning of a word from the view of an addressee and an addresser. The information sent from a sender to a receiver is transmitted through denotative and connotative channels; correct coding / decoding of connotative information requires some particular knowledge.
