The article deals with such an aspect of educational process as the quality of teaching. Studying factors and the estimation of the basic criteria that influence the degree of teaching qualities at the university are based on the features of person-centered and competency-based approaches. The article represents some concepts, including the quality of teaching, teachers' competency, criteria of evaluation of effective teaching.
