There is characterized the role of chance in the comedies by O. Wilde, analyzed the correlation of the notions “chance”, “truth”, “fate” on the language and content levels. There is proved that the non-reasoned acts and spontaneous decisions of the characters in the plays by Oscar Wilde incarnate the philosophy of the unreal.
