There are represented the results of the survey of Russian and American respondents directed to find out the value attitude to personal names. There is described the national and cultural specificity of anthroponomical reflexives.

Based on the based on the survey of Russian and American parents’ opinions there are revealed the nominative intentions of naming subjects in the situation of naming, made the conclusion about the national and cultural specificity of nominative preferences of the Russians and the Americans in choosing a name for a newborn baby.
