There is considered the history of creation of the Academic dictionary of the Russian language in the USSR of the totalitarian period. Based on the narrative approach to linguistic and historiographic description, there is traced the influence of the social paradigm on the linguistic one, which appears in a number of discursive experiences of the “totalitarian” linguistics.
