There is suggested the methodology of studying the chapter “Palm Sunday” in the novel by I.S. Shmelev “God’s Summer” at literature lessons in the fifth form. The mythological comments, which are the basis for the analysis of the key figure of willow, favours the deeper comprehension of the text by pupils, improvement of the level of their reading culture.
