There is considered V.S. Vysotsky’s perception and creative treatment of the genre traditions of a Spanish picaresque novel on the basis of the example of “role” songs about oddities and madmen. There are revealed three types of such characters: adopted from classical picaresque oddity scientist and talentless literary man, as well as the new type – “victim of television”, appropriate for the poet’s time realities.
