There are considered the issues, methodology and main directions of research of phraseology and paremiology in the modern linguistics. In the focus there is the methodology of complex analysis of such specific language phenomena as a phraseological unit and a riddle. There are characterized the culturological, linguopragmatic and structural approaches to research of precedent phenomena and texts of culture.
