Based on the material of English proverbs, there is researched the verbalization of the idea of fairness. There is made the conclusion about the prevalence of positive forms of judgements about fairness upon the negative ones, identification of fairness and honesty, presence of paremical units, which give the notion of equity, compensating the rigorism of common legislation
