There are considered the possible origins of figurativeness in one of the riddles about the mill fixed among the Russian old residential population of Lithuania. There is traced the influence of the Ukrainian, Byelorussian, general Russian folk traditions, complicated by the specificity of local conditions. There is analyzed the mechanism of the borrowed riddle inclusion into the repertory.
