There is suggested to look at the universe picture created by W.Whitman in Leaves of Grass from the position of the latest science conception about the nature and world as a whole. The conclusion the author comes to is as follows: in the light of the new world-view Whitmans artistic world has broadened, began to sparkle with new colours, became clearer to the reader, and perhaps more authoritative, having shown its corrective scientific function.
