There are described the peculiarities of phraseological units formation under the conditions of associative experiment. By example of several phraseological units there is singled out semantic support, marked its nominal significance in linguistics. There are drawn the conclusions about the influence of variety, transformation and reduction of semantic support and other components on phraseological units.
