The article deals with the words allocated in Russia, the UK and France as word of the year 2016. The word of the year is a marker of social life phenomena that become the most meaningful for the linguistic culture. The criteria for selection of such words are analyzed, the lexical groups in the Russian, French and English language media discourse are found out.

Based on the TV production there is considered the creolized text as the source of negative information with hidden aggressiveness. There is carried out the analysis of linguosemiotic organization of an illustrated magazine for children from the point of influence on children’s minds. There are revealed the ways that favour the negative semantics in particular genres of the mass entertaining discourse targeted both at adults and at children

There are regarded the transformations of the modern journalistic discourse. There is defined the dependence between the state of the information society and temporal means of information giving widely spread in mass media. With the use of semiotic approach there are marked out the sign words of the mass culture. There is also considered the question of expansion of loan words in the journalistic discourse.
