The article deals with the basic models of the approach “subject and language integrated learning”. The author proves the effectiveness of this approach in training of future professionals and provides the examples of its implementation in Russian universities. Successful implementation of the models under consideration leads to the conclusion that foreign language is regarded as a strategic component of the system of professional competences.

There are regarded the issues of language education. On the basis of concretization of goals and education content in specialist training in a higher school there is substantiated the necessity of taking into account the psychological mechanisms of formation of professional foreign language competence as a necessary condition of personal establishment of a specialist. There are shown the mechanisms of speech activity as one of the most complicated forms of psychic functions.
