There are analyzed the two models of education - subject knowledge and personally oriented, and there is shown that the competence approach should integrate them. There are considered the standards in mathematics and the project of the new ones in the context of the competence paradigm, and substantiated that mastering them may be possible on the assumption of methodological knowledge inclusion in the content of mathematical education.
