A garden in the story by L.Tolstoi The Cossacks, as well as in other works by this writer, implies the idea of general life. The scene of grape gathering is considered as the prologue to bread labour scenes in Anna Karenina; there are noted the evangelical motives that connect these scenes. In the representation of grape garden as the love space, there are investigated the motives of Canticles of Solomon and the connection of garden with the woman, revealing its sacral semantics.

There is researched the one of the universal plots of the Russian literature - snowstorm rising at the creative work of P.A.Vyazemsky brilliantly developed by A.S.Pushkin and recreated by L.Tolstoi. The delivery scene of the duchess Bolkonskaya (War and Peace) and the snowstorm scene of the meeting of Anna and Vronsky at the railway station (Anna Karenina) are considered as concentrated incarnation of one of its variations - terrible storm at terrible night.
