On the basis of comparison with prototypical parts of speech - adjectives and nouns - there are analyzed the cognitive processes responsible for substantivisation of adjectives. There is given the classification of substantivized adjectives in the modern Russian language considering their role in subject concepts semantics.

There are analyzed the different types of lexical and syntactical coordination between the substance and sign in the attributive word combination from the cognitive and structure semantic points of view.
