For the first time there is revealed the through motive “a good warrior” that has religious and philosophical and aesthetic connotations in the creative work by A.K. Tolstoy. The main motive is determining for comprehension of the religious and philosophical world-view of the poet, his aesthetic conception, idea and artistic peculiarity of Tolstoy’s creative work.

There are considered the characteristic features of the Russian metaphysic poetry in the second half of the XIX century, in particular, the poetry by A.K. Tolstoy. In the poetic system there is researched the principle of iconic character that determine the metaphysic content of the lyrics.

There are considered the origins of the metaphysical world-view of A.K. Tolstoy from the point of the historic and literary approach. There is stated that the poets religious self-consciousness and philosophic lyrics were originally encouraged by the orthodox religious and teaching tradition, in spite of his interest to the nonconfessional mysticism.
