The article deals withthe English proverbs describing the concepts “mouse” and “rat”. These images reflect the assessment meaning.The English proverbsconcerning the images of rodentsare researched in the aspect of objectification of the cognitive and evaluative characteristics. The assessment expressed by proverbs is studied on the basis of the examples taken from the English literature.

There is given the comparative analysis of the paremies of the English and the Russian languages expressing the valuation aspects of the concept wine. There are considered the similarities and differences in the interpretations of the given concept in the Russian and English paremic world pictures.
