There are revealed the main advantages of the method of psychosemantics in the research of ethnic identity. There is given the qualitative and quantitative comparison of the semantic spaces of the ethnic identity of the youth made on the basis of t he material of the verbal and non-verbal semantic differential.

There are given the results of psychosemantic research of ethnic identity of young people of seven nationalities residing in Volgograd and Volgograd region. There is analysed the specificity of categorial system of individual meanings, through the prism of which young people of different ethnic groups and different levels of education identify themselves with the representatives of this or that nationality.
